So you got up for work, you fed the kids, animals and grabbed a last piece of burnt toast off the table before heading out yourself. Jump in the car, insert your key and nothing. Just Nothing? No noise, no nothing. Well as upsetting and frustrating as this may be, There may be hope. Here are some key factors when trying to analyze an issue such as this yourself. If the engine will not crank, most likely you are dealing with a starter or battery problem. A few things to ask yourself include; has the starter been acting up? ( making odd noises, cranking or turning over slow) Try and recall if this is the first time the engine has failed to crank or start, or has this been an ongoing issue. Has there been repairs performed on your vehicle and if so retrace those steps to ensure quality parts and repairs are in place. Also even though parts may be "brand new" the people and machines that make them parts are not perfect, there for sometimes resulting in a faulty part bought from the auto parts store. Check to make sure that your battery is properly charged and the adequate cold cranking amps (CCA) match the manufactures specs. Just asking yourself an retracing these steps may just help you solving your issue before you catch yourself in a panic.
If your engine however cranks but refuses to start it may be lacking ignition, fuel or compression. Some of the basic question to ask yourself in this situation would be; was it running fine but quit suddenly, was your vehicle under stress, or was you idling at a red light. When your vehicle stalled was it at a rough idle or did it seem like your key was turned to the off or 0 position? Also consider your vehicles maintenance and repair history, these issues can be caused by an array of things such as a failed fuel pump, ignition module or broken overhead cam belt. This article may not fix your vehicle but it can shed some light on your situation before you call your mechanic. Of coarse to avoid all of this hassle remember to upkeep your preventative maintenance, and ask your automotive mechanic for a list of required services from the manufacture. I hope this can come in use and until then HAVE A BLESSED DAY!!!
